Russia launches missile and suicide drone attacks on Ukraine's Kyiv

Moscow/Kyiv: Russian security forces again targeted Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, on Monday. On Monday morning, Russia carried out a major attack with suicide drones and ballistic missiles on the capital, Kyiv and nearby areas. It is the second instance of the capital, Kyiv, being targeted in the last four days. Western analysts have claimed that the continuous attacks on Kyiv are part of Russia’s ‘Winter Offensive’.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the US on Monday. Zelensky will likely demand economic and arms assistance after meeting President Joe Biden and the Speaker of the US Congress. Despite the US and European countries providing arms worth billions of dollars, Ukraine has not been able to succeed in countering Russia. On the contrary, in the next few days, Ukraine may run out of weapons despite the Ukrainian army being in a defensive position. Because of this, Ukraine will no longer be able to fight for much longer, this is also something that Western media and former officials are drawing attention to.

On this background, Russia has started its ‘Winter Offensive’ and major attacks are being carried out on major cities and provinces of Ukraine including the capital Kyiv. Russian security forces have targeted the capital, Kyiv, four times since last month and have intensified missile and drone attacks. On Monday morning, Russia fired eight missiles at the capital Kyiv. Ukraine claimed to have foiled most of these missiles. However, information has come to light that these missile attacks caused damage to property and infrastructure. During this period, strikes were also carried out with missiles and suicide drones.

A fierce conflict has begun to capture the cities of Avdiivka and Marinka in eastern Ukraine. Like Bakhmut, defence sources of both countries provided information about the beginning of a comprehensive war for every inch of land in the city. The UK intelligence has said that 40 percent of the attacks in Sunday’s clashes took place in the area of Avdiivka and Marinka cities. At the same time, officials have indicated that the situation of the Ukrainian army in Avdiivka is quite bad.

It is being claimed that the Ukrainian army no longer has enough soldiers to fight the war. Apart from this, the situation in Ukraine has worsened due to a shortage of weapons and ammunition provided by the US and NATO member countries. Also, news reports state that the US and European countries no longer have weapons left to give to Ukraine. On this background, claims have also emerged that activities to bring about change of power in Ukraine have started.

While making a claim on this, Russia’s intelligence agency has said that the Biden administration has planned to remove President Volodymyr Zelensky and hand over the reins to a new leader.
