Berlin/ Moscow/ Washington: A Swiss-German daily has made a sensational claim that the US had proposed to Russia to give 20 per cent of Ukraine’s land through the ‘Land for Peace Deal’ to stop the conflict in Ukraine. CIA chief William Burns visited Russia and Ukraine and presented the proposal, NNZ newspaper said in its report. Information given by two German parliamentarians has been cited for this.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has been a year in the making and there are no signs of abating. But it is often said from Russia that Russia proposed a peace treaty to Ukraine in the early days after the conflict started. A few months later, the media reported that the United States and some European countries were also putting pressure on Ukraine for peace as they were tired of the conflict. US diplomat and former national security adviser Henry Kissinger also advised that Ukraine should prepare to leave the territory. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected all the proposals in this regard.
