Washington – The United States is trying to establish cooperation between Israel and Saudi Arabia and ensure that the Saudis, like other Arab countries, sign the Abraham Accords with Israel. The news has been emerging over the past few days. The Saudis are also ready to accept the US proposal. But before that, Saudi Arabia demanded that the US take responsibility for Saudi’s security and help it develop its civilian nuclear program. A leading newspaper in the US published this news.
For the past few days, it was reported that the Biden administration is taking the initiative to establish cooperation between Israel and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia raised the issue of Palestine for cooperation with Israel. It is claimed that Netanyahu’s government in Israel is not serious about the issue of Palestine. Because of this, cooperation between Israel and Saudi Arabia was said to be difficult. But according to the US-based newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, Saudi Arabia is ready to cooperate with Israel. Before that, Saudi Arabia’s first demand was for the United States to ensure their security. In addition, they requested assistance from the US in building their nuclear program. Last year, the Biden administration withdrew the air defence system deployed to protect Saudi Arabia. Therefore, this demand from Saudi Arabia can be a dilemma for the Biden administration.
Moreover, Benjamin Netanyahu said he would prioritise signing the Abraham Accords with Saudi Arabia as soon as he became the Prime Minister of Israel. Netanyahu claimed that many problems in the Middle East would be solved if cooperation was established with Saudi Arabia. In the last two years, the Biden administration did not give much importance to this cooperation. But in the wake of Saudi support for Russia in the conflict in Ukraine, the Biden administration seems to have made a new move to isolate Russia by establishing cooperation between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
