US plans to launch a chemical attack in Ukraine, a senior Russian official

Moscow/Washington: A senior Russian official has accused the US of planning to significantly provoke the war by launching a chemical attack in Ukraine. Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov said that he is making this statement based on the remarks made by the former US ambassador to Russia and suspicious activities in Ukraine. In an event in the US, Russia’s former ambassador to the US, John Sullivan, claimed that Russia was preparing to launch a chemical attack and that this attack would be a ‘false flag’ attack. The Russian official also said that a statement of such nature made by a former US official indicates the US itself plans to launch such an attack. General Kirillov went on to claim that it was a conspiracy to put all the blame on Russia and tarnish Russia’s image by launching a big attack.

Before Russia made the allegations, the US and Ukraine had also accused Russia of planning a chemical attack. Earlier, the US, Ukraine and other Western countries had accused Russia of preparing to attack the nuclear plant in Ukraine. However, time has revealed that there was no truth to those allegations.
