UK PM announces tough new rules to curb refuge influx

London: UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced to make strict rules to stop the influx of refugees. Under this, the refugees who have illegally infiltrated into the UK will be sent back to their own countries and this will benefit the UK in the coming days, Prime Minister Sunak has claimed. A few hours later, UK’s Home Secretary James Cleverly has signed a new agreement related to refugees with the African country Rwanda. A few days ago, the UK had sent Nigerian youths living illegally back to their country. After this, Sunak’s government was heavily criticized. The British court had also reprimanded Sunak’s government. However, due to the ongoing violent protests by refugees on the streets of the UK for the past few weeks, Prime Minister Sunak’s decision is gaining public support.

The problem of refugees has troubled the UK for the last few years. Refugees who arrived in the UK without valid paper permission are today threatening the local British people. It was alleged that the rights of the people of the UK were being taken away because of these refugees. According to the information released by the UK government, more than 1.2 million refugees had infiltrated into the UK last year. More than 50 percent of these refugees do not even have valid documents.

The then British government had also claimed that after ‘Brexit’ i.e. Britain’s exit from the European Union, the number of refugees in the country would reduce. Even so, after Brexit, the number of refugees in the UK increased significantly, a US news channel said. Especially among these refugees who reached the UK, the number of people coming from European countries is negligible and it was clear that the number of people coming from Africa, the Middle East and Asian countries is quite large. Besides, there were reports of the same refugees being involved in the rising number of criminal cases in the UK.

In such a situation, Prime Minister Sunak, after taking over the reins of the UK, announced an important policy to stop the influx of refugees. According to this, Prime Minister Sunak on Monday announced making tough rules against refugees living illegally in the UK. Under this, foreign workers being provided health facilities, will no longer be allowed to bring their family members to the UK. Only skilled students will be given entry into the UK and unskilled students will be shown the way out. Sunak announced that British citizens will be given priority in British companies and illegal refugees will be deported to their home countries.

Meanwhile, UK Home Secretary Cleverly visited Rwanda on Tuesday. Cleverly signed the first agreement with Rwanda regarding refugees. According to this, Rwandan citizens living illegally and without permits in the UK will be sent back. Cleverly also completed the formalities of signing the agreement by meeting Rwandan Foreign Minister Vincent Biruta. Prime Minister Sunak has welcomed this agreement with Rwanda.

Meanwhile, security agencies and military analysts are warning that the influx of illegal refugees into the UK is proving to be a challenge to the country’s security. Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, incidents of anti-Semitism have been increasing in the UK in the last two months and Jewish sites, buildings and hotels are being targeted.
