PM Modi meets UAE’s Crown Prince, signs five pacts

Abu Dhabi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Oman as the last leg of the four-nation visit. Before this, India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed five different agreements in the Prime Minister’s presence. These include the agreement between ONGC Videsh and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

uae, india, modi oilThis is a very important agreement from the Indian point of view in which, the ONGC Videsh has acquired 10% stake in the Oil project of ADNOC. Prime Minister Modi underlined the bilateral relations between India and UAE saying, the relations between India and UAE are far beyond that of the buyer and seller.

After the historical visit to Jordan followed by Palestine, Prime Minister Modi landed in UAE on Saturday. He received a grand welcome here. The Prime Minister was welcomed at the airport by the Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE armed forces, Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Other members of the Royal family were also present.

This is second visit of Prime Minister Modi to the UAE and he had bilateral talks with Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed, in the Abu Dhabi Royal palace. Prime Minister Modi is the first International leader to be invited to the Royal palace.This is the evidence of the strengthening of the ties between India and the UAE over the past few years, said the Ravish Kumar, the External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson.

Ravish Kumar informed that the bilateral talks were about strengthening the co-operation at all levels. After this, India and the UAE signed five agreements which include the agreement between ONGC Videsh and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) considered to be most important. Other than these agreements, agreements on knowledge exchange, joint projects and technology transfer, were also signed. Similarly, an agreement related to the facilities in railways also was signed by the both countries.

Prime Minister Modi addressed the Indian diaspora living in UAE at the Opera House in Dubai. He said that doing business in India has become easy now and appealed for investments in India. Prime Minister Modi also gave information about certain decisions the government had taken. Prime Minister Modi even participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a Mandir being constructed in UAE, through video conferencing. He also participated in the ‘World Government Summit’ in Dubai.
