Therefore, it is seen that the army and the government of Pakistan are making strong preparations to pin down Imran Khan.

Some senior journalists question whether the attack on Imran Khan was ‘warning shots’ or ‘booster shots’. The logic behind the warning shots theory is that the attack on Imran Khan was carried out to make it clear that you will not be spared if you criticise the Pakistani Army and ISI. The attack occurred in the Punjab province, which Imran Khan’s party rules. Still, if the police force here did not provide security to Imran Khan, it makes one think these journalists are predicting the possibility of ‘booster shots. The logic behind it is that Imran Khan must have fabricated the whole firing episode to get the Pakistani people’s sympathy.

While some people in Pakistan expressed doubts about the attack on Imran Khan, Pakistan Army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has refuted the allegations made by Imran Khan. Imran Khan blamed Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Internal Security Minister Rana Sanaullah and ISI officer Major General Faisal Nasir for plotting the attack on him. But ISPR criticised these allegations are baseless and irresponsible. Also, ISPR has warned that no one making such accusations and defaming Pakistan’s security system will escape in the future.

Some analysts say this means the Pakistan Army is ready to drag Imran Khan to court. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif appointed a judicial committee to bring the truth of the attack on Imran Khan before the people of Pakistan. Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb claimed that Pakistan’s government and army have the same stance on the attack on Khan. Former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari accused Imran Khan of crossing all limits to create chaos in Pakistan. Zardari blamed Imran Khan is spewing venom against the country’s security systems.

Amidst this criticism of Khan, the ‘Pakistan Electronic Media and Regulatory Authority’ (PEMRA) has banned the broadcast of Imran Khan’s speeches. It is claimed that Pakistan Army is behind this decision and there is also a discussion that preparations to pin down Imran Khan have started with this decision.

While Pakistan’s military, government, and media factions are targeting Imran Khan, a large section has stood by Imran Khan. This has affected the Pakistan Army and demonstrations have started outside the residence of Army Chief General Qamar Jawed Bajwa in Rawalpindi. Khan’s supporters also raised slogans in front of the army headquarters in Peshawar. Videos have also surfaced of protesters creating chaos in some other cities of Pakistan. Because of this, a division has become apparent in Pakistan, and this country’s analysts and intelligent journalists are expressing a fear that our country is being pushed into the abyss of anarchy.
