Pakistan army chief demands Imran Khan’s resignation, media reports

Islamabad: The Pakistan army has suggested that Prime Minister Imran Khan resign after the meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the country. Claims have been published in the media that Pakistan army chief General Bajwa and other senior military officials have issued such orders to Imran Khan. As per the media, Imran Khan is left with no choice as the army which brought him in power and defended him has gone against him.

The change in the stand of Imran Khan, who has been showering accusations and making vitriolic criticism against India, becomes significant. According to the media, this change in Imran Khan’s stand is due to the current upheavals in Pakistan.

A new session of the Pakistan parliament is starting on the 25th of March. A no-confidence motion will be moved in the upcoming session. It is indicated that the opposition parties will be able to pull Imran Khan down from his position. It has happened because the army that was protecting Imran Khan has gone against him. Opposition leaders express confidence that the Pakistan army will not take any sides in the political disputes. Moreover, leaders known to be staunch Imran Khan supporters have started joining hands with the leaders of opposition parties.

In this scenario, a report has been received that army chief General Bajwa has suggested to Prime Minister Imran Khan to resign following the OIC meeting in Pakistan. There was a dispute between Prime Minister Imran Khan and army chief General Bajwa over the appointment of chief of the intelligence agency ISI. Moreover, there are major setbacks in the Pakistan economy due to the incorrect economic policies of Imran Khan and the allies also are displeased with Pakistan due to his absurd foreign policies. Imran Khan has got Pakistan further cornered with statements challenging the United States. It is claimed that the Pakistan army chief is extremely upset with Imran Khan.

In this situation, the Pakistan army will force Imran Khan to resign and replace him with the current Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. But the opposition leaders are not willing to accept this and are demanding elections in Pakistan.
