Russia-UkraineMoreover, NATO seems to have become more active after the Russia-Ukraine conflict. NATO’s decision to grant membership to Sweden and Finland and NATO’s ongoing defence cooperation with Ukraine is noteworthy. By projecting the image that Ukraine is fighting for NATO, member countries are being pressured to increase defence preparedness. Member States are continuously being urged to increase their military capabilities.

Moreover, it has been revealed that there is a plan to strengthen the anti-Russian alliance behind this. As the Russia-Ukraine conflict continues, preparations have begun for a major increase in military deployments in NATO countries bordering Russia. It is proposed to deploy nearly 300,000 troops along the Russian border in three phases. In the first phase, it is planned to keep 100,000 personnel from Poland, Norway and the Baltic countries ready for deployment and the deployment will be completed in 10 days. In the second phase, the target is to deploy one lakh personnel in 10 to 30 days from other major countries, including Germany.

Meanwhile, NATO’s plan requires a large amount of investment in the defence sector from the member countries. However, in the wake of the Ukraine conflict, it has been revealed that many NATO member countries are incapable of this. Therefore, experts have opined that the plan formulated by NATO is difficult to implement.
