Peace can prevail between US-Russia only when US is left without any influence on the global system, claims Russian senator

He claimed that the United States would be weak in the new system and have no influence. Pushkov warned that the year 2022 would create emergencies in US-Russia relations. Pushkov is a close associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Therefore, his statements become significant.

Moreover, the tension between the United States and Russia is prevailing on various issues like Ukraine, fuel, cyberattacks, Iran, and Afghanistan. There are signs that there could be an indirect conflict between the two countries over the Ukraine issue. The statements of the Russian senator become significant against this background.

Pushkov claimed during an interview with a news channel, ‘The United States is a dominant country. But the country is slowly losing its position. The United States had to face a major defeat in the Middle East and Afghanistan. In this scenario, US groups are trying to retain the influence by simultaneously taking on Russia and China. This has caused an atmosphere of concern in the United States and other parts of the world.‘

Russian senator Peskov warned ‘The United States now views Russia as a leading power rather than a secondary power. Thus, the Biden administration said, in 2022, that Russia is a bigger problem than China. The year 2022 could be the year to create an emergency between the United States and Russia.’ He said that the United States now wants to resolve the Russian issue and is planning to use the Ukraine issue for the purpose.

Pushkov claimed, ‘Groups having their grip on the US political and economic sectors feel that only the United States can run the world. Therefore, they do not allow anyone else to influence the world. In this scenario, the conflict between the United States and Russia will continue till a global system, where the United States is weak without any influence, is created.’

Meanwhile, NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg clarified that NATO would not be deploying its military in Ukraine, given the possible conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Stoltenberg said that there is a difference between being a NATO member and a NATO partner. Besides, NATO can provide other assistance to Ukraine.

It is consistently being exposed that there are differences in NATO and European countries over military deployment in Ukraine. The statement of the NATO chief only endorses them. While NATO has refused military assistance, the European Union has issued warnings to Russia over Nord Stream 2 and SWIFT. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, warned of disconnecting Russia from the international banking transactions and stopping the approval for the Nord Stream 2 fuel pipeline.
