Russian President Vladimir Putin claims no alternative to military action against Ukraine

Moscow: – Russian President Vladimir Putin justified the Russian attack on Ukraine ‘There is not even an iota of doubt in my mind regarding the military action in Ukraine. The objectives of the military action were clear and noble. These objectives will be fulfilled. There was no other alternative in front of Russia. The Russian attack on Ukraine was a correct decision.’ While justifying the attack, the Russian President also warned that Russia would never depend on the westerners anytime in the future.

It has been more than a month and a half since the Russian attack on Ukraine. During this time, Russia has gained control over many regions in the East and South Ukraine. The Russian forces have retreated from the capital, Kyiv and other regions in North Ukraine. Westerners are claiming that this withdrawal is a defeat for President Putin. Some Russian groups also claim that Putin will be out of power following the Ukraine attack. Against this background, an open justification by the Russian President becomes significant. Putin asserted that the action on Ukraine was justified in a program organised at a space centre in the far eastern Russian Province of Amur. At the same time, he also warned that the plot to isolate Russia by imposing sanctions would not succeed. President Putin warned ‘Russia can never be isolated. In the modern world, it is impossible to isolate any country and it is indeed the case with a country like Russia having such a huge expanse.’ At this time, he cited the first Cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin’s achievements six decades ago.

Even in the last century, comprehensive sanctions had been imposed on Soviet Russia. Isolating Soviet Russia also had succeeded. Putin pointed out that still, Soviet Russia has the honour of sending the first cosmonaut into space. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also justified the attack on Ukraine. Foreign Minister Lavrov claimed that the Russian action would end the global system under US influence. Lavrov added that Russia carried out the Ukraine mission to end the unrestricted expansion of NATO and the ambition of the United States and other westerners to dominate on the global level. The Russian Foreign Minister also warned that Russia would never bow to the wishes of the United States.
