Israel will not stop construction of settlements on West Bank, says Israeli Finance MinisterA week ago, the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited Israel and met with the Prime Minister of Israel, calling for a halt in the construction of Jewish settlements and demolition of Palestinian houses in the West Bank. Neither the US nor Israel had disclosed the details of the meeting. However, the media revealed some information. The US has officially not made such a demand.

It appears that Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government has completely ignored the US request. The Finance Minister of Israel has announced that the construction in Judea and Samaria will not be stopped. The West bank is referred to by the Jewish as Judea and Samaria. Furthermore, Israel will act against the unauthorised construction of Palestine. Western countries, along with middle eastern countries, are expressing concerns about this development.

Israel will not stop construction of settlements on West Bank, says Israeli Finance MinisterThe United Nations last week criticised the Israeli government for a crackdown on Palestine houses. Since Netanyahu came to power about three months back, nearly 88 Palestinian houses have been raided, some were demolished, and some were pressured to do so. However, Israel justified the actions as it was against the homes of terrorists, challenging Israel’s security and attacking the Jews.

Europe and the US have expressed their displeasure with the actions of Israel. Few western countries have called Israeli construction on the West Bank illegal. Israel has made it clear not to pay any heed to countries which deny the rights of the Jews.

In such a scenario, the announcement for the Israeli finance minister to continue the construction on the West Bank and a crackdown on Palestine is significant. Analysts claim that this will trigger new conflict in the West Bank.
