Israel and Bahrain sign security cooperation agreement

israel-baharain-defence-agreement-1Manama: – Israel has signed a security cooperation agreement with Bahrain. It is considered the next step after the Abraham agreement, signed between Israel and Bahrain last year. This agreement is being viewed against the background of the Iranian nuclear program and attacks by the Houthi rebels.

Two days ago, Israeli Defence Minister Benni Gantz visited Bahrain. During his visit, Defence Minister Gantz held discussions with Bahrain Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa. After that, the Israeli Defence Minister met Bahrain Defence Minister Abdullah bin Hassan Al-Nuaimi and signed the agreement. This agreement will make joint war exercises, cooperation and exchange of information possible between the defence forces of the two countries.

Bahrain, too, just like Israel, has bitterly opposed the Iranian nuclear program in the past. Since the last few days, the Houthi rebels from Yemen have increased drone and missile attacks on Saudi and UAE. The defence agreement between Israel and Bahrain is being viewed against this background.

Since the last few days, cooperation has been established between Israel and the Arab countries on various fronts. At the beginning of the week, the Israeli President visited UAE. Whereas the navies of Israel, Saudi and Oman participated in a joint war exercise.
