Israel and Qatar defence chiefs meet to discuss anti-Iran coalition issue: Saudi news agency  

Manama: – Israeli defence chief Aviv Koshavi visited Bahrain and met the defence chief of Qatar. Israeli defence chief announced that Israel was forming a regional network of the strategic partner countries. Whereas, a Saudi news agency reported that the meeting was to discuss the inclusion of Qatar, like Bahrain, into the Abraham agreement.

Israel and QatarLast week, Israel Defence Chief Lieutenant General Aviv Koshavi visited Bahrain. Koshavi has become the third Israeli official to visit Bahrain in the last one and a half months. Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Defence Minister Benni Gantz visited Bahrain after that. The Israeli defence chief met the senior military and administrative officials of Bahrain.

At the same time, Lieutenant General Koshavi also met the defence chief of Qatar General Salem Bin Hamad Bin Mohammed Bin Aqil al Nabil in Bahrain’s capital Manama. As reported by Saudi news agency Elaph, the Israeli and Qatari defence chiefs discussed the developments in the Middle East.    

Israel and QatarIsraeli defence chief presented a proposal to join the Abraham agreement like the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain in front of the Qatari defence chief. Lieutenant General Koshavi also assured Qatar of assistance to protect its interests against the drone attacks by Iran and Iran affiliated terrorist organisations. Moreover, the Israeli defence chief also visited the Central Command of the US navy in Qatar. Meanwhile, Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited Turkey only last week. Turkey is establishing cooperation with Israel after nearly one and a half decades. After that, the defence chiefs of Israel and Qatar met in Bahrain. Turkey and Qatar are known as Iranian allies. Against this background, the Israeli proposal to Qatar to join the Abraham agreement becomes significant.
