US concerned over Russia's deepening ties with China, claims Russian AmbassadorWashington/Moscow/Beijing: – Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov has claimed that the visit of the Russian President to China reflects that Russia and China are moving close together, which has concerned the United States. Russian President Vladimir Putin visited China for the winter Olympics held in Beijing. Many important agreements were signed between Russia and China during this visit, after which both the countries have issued a joint statement. Repercussions of this are felt in the US media and political circles. The statement of the Russian Ambassador to the US is seen as a reaction to what is happening in the US right now.

Satellite-SystemThe tensions between the United States and Russia have risen over the last year. Alexei Navalny’s arrest, cyberattacks, Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Belarus and Ukraine are the main reasons for the rising tensions. The tension seems to be escalating due to the increasing Russian military deployments on the Ukraine border. While the tensions are increasing between Russia and the western countries, including the United States, Russia has started to strengthen its cooperation with China.  

GLONASSImportant agreements related to fuel, space, investment, currency transactions, banking, technology, and agriculture were signed between the two countries. It is informed that 16 agreements were signed during the recently concluded visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China. Along with the long-term fuel cooperation, an agreement to challenge the US Navigational system was also signed.  

An agreement has been signed to increase cooperation between the Glonass system of Russia and Baidu developed by China. Sources have claimed that the agreement aims to reduce the influence of GPS, the US navigation system, on the international level. The new agreements are the next step of the preliminary agreement signed by the two countries in 2018. With the new agreements with Russia, China has reciprocated and declared its support to Russia on the NATO and Ukraine issues. This is a severe concern to the US, as confirmed by Russian Ambassador Antonov based on information from within the US.
