Israeli company to supply anti-drone system and radar to Bahrain

israeli-compani-baharain-1Jerusalem: – The leading Israeli company in Barak missiles, Heron Drones and military aircraft will be supplying anti-drone and Radar systems to Bahrain. These anti-drone and radar systems will be helpful to Bahrain, which is located just 200 kilometres from Iran. This cooperation is being established between Israel and Bahrain under the Abraham agreement. Only last week, Israel took the historic decision to deploy its naval official in Bahrain.

Israeli company to supply anti-drone system and radar to BahrainLast year, Bahrain signed an agreement with the Belgium based subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAL). The details of which anti-drone system purchased by Bahrain from the Israeli company have not been revealed. But Bahrain has purchased Bats GR12 Radar from IAL. The concerned system identifies suspicious activities around the coastline and sends the photographs to the central control tower. Therefore, the purchase of the system will augment the maritime security of Bahrain.  

The agreement was signed in 2021 and the Radar system will be handed over to Bahrain in the current year. The deal was announced after the Bahrain visit of Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz. Last year, even United Arab Emirates (UAE) purchased an anti-drone system in Israel. IAL is a leading company in manufacturing various drones, namely Heron, Harop, Harpy, RQ-5 hunter and bird. The Israeli media claim that UAE and Bahrain are also interested in purchasing these drones.

As an extension of the agreement, military cooperation is being developed between Israel and Arab countries. Under this cooperation, Israel and Bahrain navies conducted joint naval exercises last week. Navies of Saudi Arabia and some other Arab countries also participated in the exercises. Whereas fighter jets from Israel and UAE participated in a joint air exercise with the United States in the Red Sea region last month.   

Moreover, Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz visited Bahrain last week. The significance of Minister Gantz’s visit increased against the background of the increasing activities of the Houthi rebels from Yemen. Within just a few hours of the visit, Israel announced the appointment of its naval official in Bahrain. It is being informed that this Israeli official will be responsible for connecting and coordinating with the US navy deployed in Bahrain. Bahrain has confirmed this report. It has become a warning for Iran, located just 200 kilometres from Bahrain.
