Fuel gas reserves found in Egypt’s maritime region – US and Italian companies to excavate

Cairo: Huge reserves of fuel gas have been discovered near the oil field of Egypt called ‘Nargis-1’. The details of this have not been revealed. But companies in the field of fuel extraction in the United States and Italy are measuring this and will excavate in this area. It is claimed that this fuel gas will be of great benefit to the economy of Egypt.

American and Italian companies have the right to 90 per cent of the reserves extracted from this fuel field spread over 1800 square kilometres. While Egypt’s Tharwa Petroleum Company has only 10 per cent shares.

Egypt is claimed to have 2.21 trillion cubic meters of natural gas reserves. In 2015, it was also revealed that 750 billion cubic meters of fuel gas reserves were found in the marine area of Zohar.
