22 killed in a Houthi missile strike on a place of worship in Yemen

Sana’a / Riyadh – At least 22 people, including women and children, have been killed in rocket attacks on a place of worship in the city of Marib by Houthi rebels. Houthi rebels also fired missiles at the governor’s office in Marib hours before the attack. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have accused the Houthis of launching drone and missile attacks on the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait.

Houthi rebels fired ballistic missiles at the city of Marib late on Sunday, according to information released by the Hadi government in Yemen on Monday. These missiles landed on a place of worship and an educational building. The Hadi government said 22 people were killed and 19 injured.

Yemen‘s Information Minister Moammar Al-Eryani accused the Houthi rebels of massacring civilians. The Houthis have not commented on the allegations. But last week, Houthi rebels fired missiles at the home of a local leader in al-Jawba. Thirteen people, including children, were killed in the attack.

A few days earlier, the Houthis had claimed the siege of Marib. The Houthi rebels are also threatening to intensify attacks on the city of Marib. The insurgents even launched an attack on the home of the Marib Governor. Saudi and Arab allies intensify airstrikes on Houthi strongholds to prevent Marib from being captured. Saudi Arabia claims to have killed more than 2,200 Houthi rebels in operation since October 11.
