The submarine was then taken to Guam island for repairs with the help of another vessel. The US Navy had refrained from giving any reaction for weeks on the incident.

China has been restless after this incident. The Chinese media had raised questions if the US submarine had hit another destroyer or a submarine. They also accused the US of hiding something.

On Monday, the US Navy revealed that the underwater mountains were not depicted on the maps of the South China Sea, which caused the accident.
