US vying to reassure Middle East nations and Israel as Iran nuclear deal reaches final stages

Jerusalem: Iran and the western countries seem to have reached very close to signing the nuclear deal. The Middle East nations and Israel also have become highly restless given this. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken rushed to Israel to reassure them. While speaking at a joint press conference with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, the US Secretary of State assured that, like Israel, even the United States will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. Whereas, Israeli Foreign Minister Lapid issued a stern warning that Israel is not bound by the nuclear deal and can take any suitable action against the Iran threat.

US vying to reassure Middle East nations and Israel as Iran nuclear deal reaches final stagesIn 2018, the then President Donald Trump had scrapped and withdrew from the nuclear deal signed by the United States and western countries in 2015 with Iran. President Trump accused Iran of stepping close to a nuclear weapon using the agreement. But after Joe Biden became the US President, efforts to revive the deal started again. It is claimed that the deal will soon be finalised. Senior European diplomats are said to have reached Iran for this purpose.

Despite this, the details of the new nuclear deal have not been revealed to the world. In this scenario, the Foreign Ministers of Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Bahrain will be holding discussions with Israel against the nuclear deal between the West and Iran. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced that this meeting held in Israel is a historic event. The United States feels the pressure of these developments. Therefore, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has reached Israel, attempting to reassure Israel regarding the nuclear deal.

The United States is firm that it will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear capabilities under any circumstances. Blinken claimed the United States has taken the initiative for the nuclear deal with Iran and the deal will lock the Iran nuclear program within a framework. But it is exposed that this justification is not acceptable to Israel.

Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid warned that Israel is not bound by the agreement being finalised by the United States and the European countries with Iran. The Israeli Foreign Minister reminded that the perceived Iranian threat is not on the psychological level and Iran has threatened to annihilate Israel. Therefore, if Iran poses a threat to Israel, it will be Israel’s prerogative to decide for itself.

The leaders of Israel have repeatedly warned that Iran will not be allowed to become a nuclear state under any circumstances. Israel is willing to pay any price for this. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had warned that Israel would not hesitate to use the military option to stop the Iranian nuclear program. Israel consistently points out that the United States is making a blunder by signing a nuclear deal with Iran. This situation makes it further difficult for the United States to convince the Middle East nations, including Israel. This has been clarified again during the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Israel.
