US needs to attack Venezuela to scare Iran, North Korea, Lindsey Graham

Washington/Caracas: Senior US Senator Lindsey Graham dispensed sensational advice saying, ‘There is a need to issue an ultimatum to Cuba. Maduro cannot rule for a day more, without Cuban support. Cuba should be immediately expelled from Venezuela. You must repeat what Ronald Reagan did in Grenada. Deploy the military and attack Venezuela.’ Graham also added that Iran and North Korea would learn a lesson from an invasion of Venezuela.

Although it is believed that the efforts of the United States, to overthrow the Maduro government in Venezuela, have failed, the United States has made all the preparations for taking action in the state. The US leadership is consistently warning Maduro and the countries supporting him. Also, US President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have repeatedly warned that all the options were open for Venezuela. Given the background, the statement made by Graham, which mentions Iran and North Korea becomes significant.

Graham advised Trump to attack Venezuela saying, ‘The world should see that the United States is successful. For that, we must begin with our backyard. Once Venezuela is attacked, and the crisis is resolved, other countries will be forced to take serious cognisance of Trump’s policies. Also, if the Venezuelan crisis is resolved, Iran and North Korea would feel the blow as well.’ It is the second time Graham suggested to Trump that the United States must invade Venezuela.

Even in the last month, Graham had made a statement demanding an attack on Venezuela, to overthrow the Maduro government. Lindsey Graham had said at that time that Guaido was the leader of Venezuela and not Maduro. She also mentioned that Cuba supported Maduro, an thus an appropriate message was needed to be delivered to them. Previously, US Senator Marco Rubio had posted photographs of deceased Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and had threatened that Maduro would face the same fate as Gaddafi.

Senior US Congressman, Mario Diaz-Balart had expressed the possibility of a nuclear war between Russia and the United States, pointing to the deployment of nuclear weapons by Russia. The US Department of Defence was revealed to have prepared an independent scheme, to overthrow the Maduro government in Venezuela. Moreover, in April, Eric Prince, the founder of the private security firm Blackwater had proposed to Trump, to deploy mercenary soldiers in Venezuela, to overthrow the Maduro government.
