US may create dangerous food crisis globally, Advisor to Russian President

Moscow/ Washington: By attacking Ukraine, Russia has deprived millions of people around the world of food. The United States has accused Russia of using food as a weapon. However, Russia has counter-accused the United States of trying to seize food supplies from Ukraine. Russia has warned that the US action could lead to global food shortages and a severe drought.

It has been almost three months since the Russia-Ukraine conflict began. Both these countries are known as major producers and exporters of wheat and other food grains. African, Middle East and European countries depend on wheat and food grains exported from Russia and Ukraine. But because of the conflict, these countries are in deep trouble. Concerns have been raised about rising wheat prices around the world.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned that if Ukraine does not find a solution to the war soon, it will lead to prolonged drought-like conditions in some countries. The Secretary-General of the United Nations, in a meeting in New York, expressed concern that this would involve a large number of countries in Africa. Attending the same meeting, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken blamed Russia for the global drought.

The US Secretary of State has accused Russia of blocking the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. US Secretary of State Blinken has claimed that nearly 20 million tons of food grains have been stored in Ukraine’s warehouses near the sea. Russia is using the food as a weapon, slammed Blinken.

Maxim Oreshkin, the adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, said in response to Blinken’s allegations that the United States was keeping an eye on Ukraine’s food supply. The United States is trying to seize food stocks controlled by Ukraine. Oreshkin has realised that there will be a terrible humanitarian crisis if this happens. Oreshkin has warned that the United States will face a ‘severe famine’ in the coming months.
