Saudi to invest in Israel through Kushner, claims US daily

Washington: Jared Kushner, who is pushing for an Abraham Accord between Israel and the Arab world, has begun efforts to boost cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Israel. A private equity fund set up by former US President Donald Trump’s adviser and son-in-law Kushner will invest about $2 billion of Saudi funds in Israel. This will be the first-time trade cooperation has been established between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Saudi to invest in Israel through Kushner, claims US dailyMoreover, Jared Kushner’s company ‘Affinity Partners’ has raised $3 billion to invest in two Israeli start-ups. According to the Wall Street Journal, $2 billion of these funds have come from Saudi Arabia. The daily says that the funds were released to Israeli start-ups after the approval of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and some Saudi officials.

Kushner told the US daily, ‘If we can bring together Israelis and Islamists in the region for business, their interests and values will be linked.’ This is the first time that Saudi Arabia has publicly invested in Israel, the daily said. The daily says the Saudi investment is significant given the lack of open political cooperation with Israel.

In March, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told an American magazine that Israel was not an enemy of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Crown Prince also said that cooperation with Israel could be established if the Palestinian issue was resolved.
