Russian President prepared for a long-drawn Ukraine war, warns Director

Washington: Avril Haines, Director of US National Intelligence, warned, “Russian President Vladimir Putin will not stop the war even after gaining control over the Donbas region in east Ukraine. The Russian President is preparing for a long-drawn war in Ukraine. The Russian military gives indications of building bridges until the breakaway province Transnistria in Moldova.” Meanwhile, the Russian military launched fierce attacks on the Odesa region in east Ukraine. The Ukraine military accused that the Russian army launched these attacks following the warning issued by the Director of US National Intelligence.

The Ukrainian government claims that Russia has failed to gain control over the capital Kyiv. But Haines, the Director of US National Intelligence, clarified that gaining control over Kyiv is not the primary objective for President Putin. The Russian President has not started the war for short-term success. Haines claimed that the Russian President is planning for the war in Ukraine for an extended period.

Haines pointed out that the Russian President had announced that a special military campaign had been launched in Ukraine. Russia also gave indications that Donbas, Donetsk and Luhansk provinces in Ukraine will be made independent of Ukraine. Citing this, the Director of US National Intelligence claimed that the Russian President is playing the war according to his plan.

The Russian President is preparing for a long-drawn war even after achieving his objectives in the Donbas region. Haines said that Putin’s logic is that the resistance of the European countries will reduce in Ukraine with time. But the Director of US National Intelligence said that there is no reconciliation between President Putin’s ambitions and the capabilities of the Russian military. Haines clarified that it would be challenging to guess Putin’s actions over the next few months, and the conflict will intensify further.

Lieutenant General Scott Barrier, Director of the Defence Intelligence Agency, also warned that the Ukraine war would continue for a long period. Lieutenant General Barrier said that neither Russia nor Ukraine would win the war. The United States and western countries are providing weapons and economic assistance on a massive scale to Ukraine. The US media are expressing surprise that Ukraine cannot win the war, despite this.

According to the United States, there are Russian activities even beyond Ukraine. Reports are being received that Russian supporter groups in Moldova, to the southwest of Ukraine, have also become aggressive. Reports of suspicious explosions are being received from Transnistria in the country. Whereas, as per the claims made by the US media, Russia is preparing to gain control even of the Transnistria province in Moldova.
