Israel prepared to defend itself: Israeli PM Naftali Bennett

Tel Aviv: – Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett warned, ‘We are not concerned what transpires in the talks between the western countries and Iran. Israel is fully prepared to defend itself.’ It is being said that the Israeli Prime Minister has delivered this clear message while the Biden administration in the United States is preparing for talks with Iran. Prime Minister Bennett warned the Iran affiliated groups while speaking on an exercise organised by the Israeli military.

Besides, Iran will hold talks regarding the nuclear deal with the United States and European countries over the next ten days. Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi has agreed to participate after a lot of persuasion by the Biden administration. Iran had asserted that it would participate only if its conditions were met. Reports are being received that the Biden administration will indulge in dangerous negotiations to save the Iran nuclear deal.

Moreover, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Defence Minister Bennie Gantz issued open warnings regarding these negotiations, which will pose a threat to Israeli security. Prime Minister Bennett said, ‘We are dealing with Iran and its affiliates in Lebanon and Syria. No matter what happens between Iran and the superpowers, and we are certainly concerned that there is not enough toughness in the face of Iranian violations, Israel will defend itself, on its own.’

Israeli Defence Minister Gantz endorsed Prime Minister Bennett’s stand. Defence Minister Gantz warned ‘Israel understands the Iranian policies regarding the nuclear program, perfectly well. At the same time, Iranian contribution in arming the terrorists in Lebanon and Syria also is not hidden from the world. In this scenario, Israel is prepared to take any necessary action. But there is a need that the international community takes action against Iran.’

For the last two days, major military exercises are being conducted by the Israeli military. Three thousand soldiers from the Golani Brigade, tanks, military vehicles and even the reserve forces participated in the exercises. The exercises aim to prepare for any conflict that may spark with Iran affiliated terrorist organisation Hezbollah in the future. Prime Minister Bennett and Defence Minister Gantz visited the exercises. After this, both the leaders issued a warning against Iran and delivered a message to the United States.

The allegations levelled by the opposition leaders in the United States that the Biden administration is pursuing a noncommittal policy on Iran’s nuclear program are intensifying. Opposition leaders have criticised that this would increase the distrust of Israel and the Gulf states for the United States. A few days ago, former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley advised Israel not to rely on the Biden administration to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Israel has also announced plans to launch airstrikes on the Iranian nuclear projects.
