Israel-UAE to jointly develop drones for undersea war

Dubai: Israel and UAE are establishing cooperation on newer fronts. On the occasion of Dubai air show, both nations have declared to develop drones (Unmanned Surface Vessels) for undersea wars. Moreover, Israel and UAE would be producing drones for military purposes and commercial too.

This deal was inked on Thursday, between Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and EDGE defence conglomerate from UAE. Accordingly, Israel and UAE would develop a 170 mm advanced unmanned vessel. Besides, as per the information imparted by both the companies, these drones can be utilised for the military as well as commercial purposes. The drones can function with semi and even full automation. On the military front, these USVs would be useful for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, border, and littoral zone patrol, maritime security operations and so forth. Whereas, commercially, they would help in oceanography, pollution monitoring oil and gas exploration among other capabilities.

Last year, after signing the Abraham accord, the Israel-UAE cooperation has been rising on military as well as commercial fronts. A few days ago, the destroyers of Israel, UAE and Bahrain jointly exercised in the Red Sea region alongside the United States.
