Israel and neighbours form defence pact to counter drone attacks; Israeli news channel reports

Jerusalem: – Israel and its neighbouring countries are forming a defence front to counter-drone attacks. A leading news channel in Israel published this report. However, the news channel did not name the neighbouring countries in the report. It is claimed that Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are getting closer, given the attacks by Iran and the Iran-backed terrorist organisations. The news channel, ‘Channel 12’, gave information regarding the anti-drone front by Israel and its neighbours. A few days ago, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were hit by drone attacks. Saudi and UAE had accused that the attacks were carried out by the terrorist organisations in Yemen and Iraq. The news channel said that the preparations for forming the front were initiated.

Moreover, if the cooperation goes forward, Israel and its neighbours will share information regarding possible drone attacks. If the need arises, Israel could also assist these countries in neutralising drone attacks. While sharing this information, the Israeli news channel has neither quoted any sources nor mentioned the neighbouring countries’ names. But taking into account the developments in the last few months, the Israeli media are claiming that there is a possibility that Israel could form a defensive front with the countries participating in the Abraham agreement.

Israel has started moves to supply air defence systems to the Arab countries UAE, Bahrain and Morocco. The reports regarding these made headlines in the last few days. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had visited UAE after the Houthi rebels from Yemen launched drone attacks on the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.

Last week, the terrorist organisation Hezbollah from Lebanon launched a drone attack on Israel. Report regarding the front by Israel and the Arab countries has surfaced after that. Meanwhile, the US navy has announced the deployment of a fleet of 100 drones in the Middle East region. A senior US navy official claimed that these drones being deployed for air and marine surveillance will act as the eyes and ears of the US navy. There is a massive freight and fuel movement through the Persian Gulf. It is claimed that this deployment is for the security of this movement. As per the US navy, the deployment will be completed by 2023.
