German Chancellor Olaf Scholz suspends Nord Stream 2 fuel pipeline project

Berlin: – The process for approving the Nord Stream 2 fuel pipeline built to supply Russian gas to European countries, including Germany, has been suspended. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz declared this development. During a press conference, Scholz said that Germany would not grant recognition to the eastern Ukrainian provinces as independent countries. At the same time, the approval of the fuel pipeline with Russia would be reconsidered too.

Moreover, Nord Stream 2 is an ambitious project developed jointly by Russia and Germany. However, some European countries and the United States have opposed the project since its inception. But former German Chancellor Angela Merkel took the initiative to complete the project. The United States has already imposed sanctions against the project. Besides, this announcement by the German Chancellor indicates the permanent closure of the project.
