Huge deposits of Lithium, a rare mineral found in Jammu and KashmirIndia ranks fourth in the list of Lithium importing countries and India imports more than 80 percent of its Lithium from China. As the market for electric vehicles and mobiles grows, if the import of Lithium decreases, the prices of electric vehicles and mobiles will also decrease significantly in the future. The country will get huge financial benefits from this. Investment in the lithium battery sector will increase tremendously. It is claimed that the country needs this very much. Hence the huge lithium deposits found in Jammu and Kashmir are of great significance.

A meeting of the ‘GSI’ board was held on Thursday. In this meeting, ‘GSI’ released a report regarding the mineral reserves found during research in various states of the country. The report was submitted to the state governments and the Union Ministry of Mines. According to this report, new deposits of minerals have been discovered at 51 places. In which Lithium, gold, potash, molybdenum, other reserves related to base metals are present, informed GSI. In the geological survey conducted by ‘GSI’ in Jammu and Kashmir, a large deposit of Lithium was found in the Reasi district. The GSI has said in its report that 59 lakh tonnes of lithium reserves are in the Chenab river basin in the Salal-Haimana area here.

Huge deposits of Lithium, a rare mineral found in Jammu and KashmirWhile demand for Lithium in India is increasing, Lithium is imported from China, Australia, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia. 80 percent of which is imported from China. Although India has invested in lithium mines in Argentina and Bolivia, given the country’s future demand, India cannot afford to depend on other countries for Lithium.

In such a situation, Lithium imports will decrease as lithium reserves are found in the country itself. This will also lead to huge investments in the lithium battery industry. Also, it is being claimed that the costs of industries using lithium batteries, including electric vehicles, solar systems and mobiles will decrease. In the future, the prices will also decrease.
