The US to deploy hypersonic missiles against A2/AD zones of China and Russia - US Congressional ReportIn the wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the activities of China and North Korea in the Pacific region, the US has begun to increase its deployment worldwide again. Assuming the threat of a possible attack by Russia on European countries, the US has started deploying new fighter planes and missile systems in Europe. At the same time, the US has indicated the deployment of long-range missiles in countries like Japan and South Korea in the Pacific region.

A few days ago, the Prime Minister of Japan visited the US. During this visit, the Japanese daily claimed that Prime Minister Fumio Kishida discussed the US’s deployment of medium and long-range missiles in a meeting with President Joe Biden. Furthermore, the newspaper said that Japan also favours the deployment of US hypersonic missiles. By 2027, Japan may buy 500 missiles from the US. It claimed that this would also include missiles that can hit up to 1000 km.

This news affirms the information released in the US Congressional report. The Congressional Budget Office of the United States has highlighted the importance of hypersonic missiles while mentioning the plans of the Department of Defense.

The report said these missiles could be effective in the early stages after the start of the war. The Congressional Budget Office has also said that since it is impossible to intercept hypersonic missiles, their use becomes important.

It has led to attention in the same report that US rivals Russia and China have developed Anti-Access/Area Denial Zones (A2/AD Zones). In addition, China has deployed missiles like DF-16, DF-17 Hypersonic Missile, DF21-D, DF-10A and DF-100 Supersonic in the South China Sea region. Besides, Russia is believed to have deployed many hypersonic missiles in the Baltic along with the Black Sea region.
