Riyadh/Sana: Saudi Arabia and its allies have launched fierce attacks on the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Saudi claimed that the Houthi rebels suffered considerable losses in these attacks. Also, by warning Yemeni people to stay away from the Houthi bases, Saudi Arabia has hinted intensified attacks on the Houthi rebels that in the next few days.
Saudi and its allies mounted attacks on the prime locations in the Yemeni capital of Sana, which is under the control of the Houthi rebels. The Houthi rebels were hiding in the mountain region, in the Atan area, in western Sana. Saudi and its allies destroyed the bases in this region. The losses suffered in the attacks have not been disclosed. However, Saudi has clarified that the attacks on the Houthi rebels will continue.
The Saudi Arabian government news channel appealed to the people of Yemen, in a report published on Tuesday that they should not go close to the locations of the Houthi rebels. The Saudi news channel gave clear indications that the attacks on the military bases of Houthi rebels, will continue in future. A few days ago, the Houthi rebels had launched drone attacks on the ARAMCO oil project, in Saudi. Saudi had declared that the attack caused a limited fire in the project. This Saudi action seems to be in retaliation to the drone attacks.
It is after these attacks by Saudi that the Houthi rebels have reportedly launched drone attacks on the Abha airport. It is the same airport that is used to launch attacks on the Houthi rebels. Therefore, the Houthi rebels have seemingly attacked the airbase to target the Saudi air force. Following the Saudi attacks on the Houthi rebels and the retaliatory strikes by the Houthi rebels on the Saudi airbase, the situation in the region has escalated.
In the meantime, the Houthi rebels claim to have shot down a US drone patrolling in the Yemenis airspace. This action was taken by the Houthi rebels in the Dhamar province, on Tuesday night. The Houthi rebels claim to have destroyed an advanced MQ-9 Ripper drone of the United States. However, the United States and Saudi Arabia have not reacted to the report.
Earlier, even in June, the Houthi rebels had claimed to have shot down a US drone. The United States had alleged that the Houthi rebels are targeting its drones using the military technology received from Iran.
