This is the third attack on the airport by the Houthi insurgents, in the last three days. An Iranian newspaper has warned Saudi not to ignore these attacks. The attacks on Saudi oil has increased ever since the United States declared that the Iranian oil exports would be brought to zero right after the announcement of the deployment of an aircraft carrier in the Middle East. Last week, four oil tankers, two of them from Saudi, were attacked near the United Arab Emirates (UAE) coast. While Iran was suspected to be behind the attacks, the Houthi rebels in Yemen accepted the responsibility of these attacks. The Houthi rebels had also carried out two drone attacks on an oil pipeline in the Saudi region, near the Red Sea.

The threat says that more than 300 locations in Saudi and UAE are on target, for the Houthi rebels. In the next few hours, the Houthi rebels showered rockets on the Saudi cities and locations. One of these attacks was on Najran airport. Nevertheless, the Patriot air defence system, deployed in Saudi, foiled these rocket attacks by Houthi rebels. But after continuing rocket attacks for two days, the Houthi rebels once again, on Thursday, targeted the Najran airport.

Saudi has foiled all the Houthi rebel attacks and reported no loss of life. However, a newspaper representing the Iranian supremo has again threatened Saudi. The paper issued a stern warning, “The missiles and drones of the Houthi rebels will declare war against Saudi. Entire Saudi is within the range of these missiles and drones. If Houthi rebels attacked you, the United States would not come to your rescue.” The newspaper also reminded of the attacks carried out by the Houthi rebels on Saudi in the last few days.

Meanwhile, Saudi and the United States have been alleging that the Houthi rebels are getting financial and military support from Iran. Saudi even produced evidence before the international media to convince, that there exists cooperation between Iran and the Houthi rebels. But Iran had dismissed all the accusations levelled against it.
