Baghdad/Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had announced that Iranian soldiers could not be there in any country in the world. Within a few hours of this announcement, there were two massive blasts at an Iranian military base in Iraq. Vast quantities of arms and ammunition were destroyed in the explosion, and this becomes the third blast at an Iranian base in Iraq, in the last one month.
There were major explosions at the airbase in Balad in the Salaheddin province, north of Iraqi capital of Baghdad. The Iraqi military has handed over the base to the Iranian armed group Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF). The group had amassed an enormous quantity of arms at the base. Iraqi sources claimed that these arms were destroyed in the Tuesday blast. Iraq government has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
Israel is suspected to be behind the blast at the base of the Iran affiliated group PMF, as the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu had issued a threat, only a few hours ago, that Israel will be attacking Iranian bases all around the world.
Prime Minister Netanyahu said ‘No Iranian base is safe. Under any circumstances, our operation against Iran will continue.’ It is being said that with this announcement, the Israeli Prime Minister indicated fresh attacks in Syria and Iraq.
Therefore, there are indications that Israel is behind the attack in Iraq. Since the last week, the Iraqi government closed its airspace for foreign aircraft. Iraq government imposed this restriction accusing that Israeli f-35s carried out attacks on two Iranian military bases in the last month.
Iraq government had announced that it would not allow Iraq, to be used as a launchpad, for attacking Iran. But the attack on the PMF base, on Tuesday, despite the restrictions, has added to the concerns of the Iraq government.
Even before this, Israel has carried out fierce attacks on the Iranian bases in Syria. Israel has, once again, demonstrated its capabilities by carrying out attacks on the Iranian bases in Iraq. Israel is accusing that Iran, who is setting up military bases in Syria and Iraq and creating massive arms arsenals at these bases, is ultimately planning to use them against Israel. Israel has clarified that therefore, Israel is attacking these military bases, to safeguard its security.
Israel has not made any official announcement regarding the Tuesday blasts. But the suggestive statements of the Israeli Prime Minister testify the Israeli aggression.
