German population should prepare itself for nuclear emergency – senior official warns

Berlin: Senior German official Inge Paulini has warned that against the background of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Europe is likely to face a nuclear disaster and the people of Germany should be prepared for a nuclear emergency. In the event of a nuclear accident, the radiation from it does not recognise the borders of countries, said Paulini about the possible danger.

President Vladimir Putin has warned that the threat of nuclear war is not over. Putin announced that Russia’s two new nuclear weapons are entering the defence forces next year. Russia’s Defence Ministry released photographs and videos showing the deployment of Yars nuclear weapons near capital, Moscow. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev pointed out that the United States has not openly declared war against Russia because it has nuclear weapons.

At the same time, attacks near Zaporizhzhia and other nuclear projects in Ukraine have also become a matter of concern. Inge Paulini, head of Germany’s Federal Office for Radiation Protection, was also aware of these incidents. Paulini warned that the German people should take this seriously and prepare for a nuclear disaster.

Paulini also expressed displeasure regarding constructing new nuclear power plants in many European countries neighbouring Germany. German officials pointed out that these projects have further increased the risk of accidents. There are currently three nuclear power plants operating in Germany.
