Leading countries, including US and European nations, impose sanctions

Washington/Rome/Beijing: Reports are emerging that the Covid pandemic has wreaked havoc after China relaxed the ‘Zero Covid Policy’ and lifted restrictions on citizens. Instead of providing proper information about this pandemic, the Chinese Communist regime has once again taken a cover-up stand. Therefore, there is an atmosphere of panic in the international community and many leading countries have started imposing restrictions on Chinese travellers. Leading countries such as Japan, Italy, India, and the United States have made it mandatory for Chinese passengers arriving by air to be tested for Coronavirus.

Several weeks ago, China lifted the strict ‘Zero Covid Policy’ imposed to control the spread of the Coronavirus. Since then, most restrictions have been relaxed in the country. However, this relaxation has led to a resurgence of Covid cases in China. Last week, media reports indicated that as many as 37 million new cases were detected within 24 hours. Despite this, spike in the number of Covid cases in China continues to rise rapidly, with photographs emerging of long lines at hospitals and overcrowded burial grounds.

In response to the rising number of Covid cases in China, several leading countries have implemented testing and other restrictions on Chinese passengers arriving by air. This includes the United States, Japan, Italy, and India. It was recently discovered that 50% of Chinese passengers on two planes arriving in Italy were infected with the virus. In response, Italy’s Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, has taken a tough stance and made coronavirus testing mandatory for Chinese passengers. Meloni also wrote a letter to the European Union calling for stricter measures regarding Chinese passengers.

Since the beginning of the Covid pandemic three years ago, China has lacked transparency in reporting the true number of cases. Despite international sanctions and restrictions being implemented by other countries, China’s authorities have consistently criticized such measures. Former US President Donald Trump faced backlash for banning Chinese travellers and flights but ultimately maintained his stance. European countries later echoed this decision.

As the Covid situation in China continues to escalate, it has been reported that the number of cases is also rising in neighbouring countries. In recent days, Japan has seen a new wave of Covid infections, with the number of patients and fatalities increasing. On Tuesday, over 200,000 Covid cases were reported in Japan.
