Five Pakistani extremists arrested in Spain for supporting terrorism 

Barcelona: – The Spanish security agencies arrested five supporters of the Pakistani extremist organisation Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP). Sources informed that all five were detained under the terrorism prevention act. The Spanish security agencies clarified that all five were found in possession of promotional materials of the terrorist organisation.

Zaheer Hassan Mehmood, a Pakistani national, was arrested in connection with the terrorist attack carried out in France in 2020. It was exposed that Zaheer was connected with the Pakistani terrorist organisation TLP. At the same time, it was also revealed that Zaheer was in contact with some people in Spain. The Spanish agencies had started an investigation based on this information.   

It was revealed during the investigation that these Pakistani nationals were involved in promoting the extremist ideology of TLP over the internet. It was found that messages supporting terrorist acts in the Urdu language were sent through Facebook and TikTok platforms. It was also found that these suspected Pakistani nationals were receiving support from countries like France, Italy and Greece. Based on this, the Spanish security agencies coordinated with Europol.   

Raids were carried out in Garona, Ubeda, Granada regions, and Barcelona. Five citizens of Pakistani origin were arrested in the raids. Moreover, extremist Pakistani nationals were known to have been acted against in the United Kingdom, France and other European countries.
