China holds talks with Ukraine after Russia faces harsh sanctions

Beijing: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Wednesday. The Chinese Foreign Minister expressed vital concern that innocent civilian lives were lost in the conflict continuing for the last few days. Western analysts have claimed that the Russian economy will get affected severely following the harsh sanctions imposed by the United States and European countries and its expulsion from the SWIFT international transaction system. As per analysts, this would also deliver jolts for China, having large-scale cooperation with Russia.

After that, the United States, European countries, Canada, Australia, South Korea and Singapore announced sanctions against Russia. The United States and European countries have banned the entry of Russian airplanes and ships in their airspaces and marine territories. They have even banned the use of the Russian language. The western countries have removed Russia from the international banking transactions system SWIFT, which connects to the banks and financial institutions in the United States and Europe.

Russian analysts themselves claimed that these harsh measures would have a detrimental effect on Russia. This has isolated Russia financially from the world and the European media have started claiming that this will affect the military might of Russia. As per international analysts, allies and partners of Russia also will feel the heat of the sanctions. According to some analysts China, buying huge quantities of natural gas and crude oil from Russia will take a big hit due to these sanctions.

At the same time, British media are claiming that the Chinese interests have been affected due to the Russia-Ukraine war. An important phase of the Chinese ambitious Belt and Road Initiative passes through Ukraine. The railway line connecting China with Europe passes through Ukraine. As per the British media, the conflict has caused significant losses for the project. The US analysts are claiming that against the background of these developments, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, indicating that China is turning its back on Russia.
