Coronavirus claims more than 2,000 lives in the US, in 24 hours

Washington: Coronavirus claimed a whopping 2,069 lives in the United States, in the last 24 hours taking the total number to 12,857. John Hopkins university informed that 731 patients died in the state of New York. Meanwhile, the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Thomas Modly, resigned after it was reported that nearly 300 US naval soldiers aboard a US aircraft carrier have contracted the Coronavirus infection.

This is the first instance in the world, of Coronavirus claiming more than 2,000 lives, in one single day. Since the last four days, more than 1,000 deaths, per day, were being reported from the United States. But after the death of more than 2,000 patients in one day, the US media are predicting that the magnitude of the Coronavirus crisis will increase manifold in the United States. At the same time, the number of Coronavirus cases also has crossed 400,000 in the United States. Study groups have claimed that the number of Coronavirus cases has doubled in the United States in the last seven days.

290 naval soldiers aboard a US aircraft carrier deployed in the Asia-Pacific region have tested positive for Coronavirus infection. These soldiers have been isolated and the personnel aboard all the US naval ships have been ordered to get screened. Admiral Thomas Modly, the Chief of Naval Staff, resigned from the post, accepting the moral responsibility of the infection found in the soldiers. US Secretary of State, Mark Esper, revealed this information.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has ordered the Company ‘General Motors’ to manufacture 30,000 ventilators. The US administration has signed an agreement worth $500 million with this company.
