A million people have contracted the Coronavirus infection around the world, except the sparsely populated Antarctica. Out of these, 250,000 cases are in the United States, and more than 6,000 people have died there. It has also been reported that 10,411 people have entirely recovered from the disease. But the media is warning that the United States is facing severe economic and social effects of the pandemic.

US President Donald Trump has not imposed a lockdown in the entire country. But 90% of the citizens are following the ‘Stay at Home’ instruction. This has resulted in the closure of small and big businesses in the United States, and it has been noticed that there was a rise in unemployment in March. This is having a direct effect on the US economy.

The pandemic seems to have affected the production of medical supplies in the United States. It is learnt that Russia has supplied ventilators and other essential medical supplies to the United States. Photographs of a Russian freight carrier aircraft, carrying these supplies, landing at the Kennedy airport have been published. These supplies were sent following a telephonic talk between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Moreover, the US President has ordered leading companies in the United States to start manufacturing masks. Meanwhile, the pandemic is on a rampage in the New York State, and 1,562 deaths have been reported from there.
