Paris/Beijing: A French think tank accused Chinese companies of looting Gold from the African country DR Congo. The French think tank IFRI said that the Chinese companies illegally produce and export Gold from the mines in the Kivu Province in southern DR Congo. While this report has surfaced, a court in DR Congo has ordered the appointment of an administrator on one of the Copper mines operated by a Chinese company.
A few days ago, the French think tank IFRI published a report, ‘A Sino-Congolese Scandal’. The report has accused China of looting Gold from DR Congo. Discontent is growing in the local population given this loot and protests and even attacks have started against the Chinese company. The report further accused Chinese companies of illegally excavating Gold and exporting it through river routes to other countries.
While the report is being received, the DR Congo government has also initiated actions against China. Last year, inquiries were instituted against some Chinese companies in the mining sector. Questions are also being raised over the $6 billion agreement signed with China by the government in power in 2008. 
The developments in DR Congo highlight China looting resources from the African countries.
Meanwhile, the economy of DR Congo is dependent on the mining industry and DR Congo is one of the leading countries in Africa in Copper and Gold production.
