China takes over a village on Nepal border

Beijing: China has started a spate of acquiring Nepal’s territory. The Chinese army captured a village at Ruila Border Post in Gorkha district on the border between the two countries. Villagers have been barred from entering the village by the Chinese military, according to a Nepali newspaper. As a result, the village, which was in Nepal till last month, is now under Chinese occupation. Incidents of China acquiring villages near the Nepal border have been reported earlier. Like Sri Lanka, Nepal is also in the grip of China’s debt. There has been criticism that China is taking over Nepal by investing heavily in it. China, which has taken control of Nepal economically, has also stepped up its moves on the military front. China plans to take control of military outposts along the border with Nepal and villages.

China has built a 200-meter long barbed wire fence in Ruila village here. As a result, 190 families here have become citizens of China overnight. China has deployed its troops in the area and is blocking the locals. Nepal’s citizens, who move from one village to another without any hindrance, have found it difficult to move in their own village, in their own country, due to the repression of the Chinese army.

Earlier, China had infiltrated the Nepalese border and taken control of an administrative building here. After the case was reported internationally, China had to withdraw its troops from the area. However, even after this, it is claimed that China’s military activities near the Nepal border are going on. Last month, China’s People’s Liberation Army conducted large-scale military exercises in the Tibet region near Nepal. There were also reports that China had started additional military deployment in the area. China’s moves near the Nepal border are part of a wider conspiracy.

China continues to have border disputes with almost all the neighbouring countries and in recent times, China seems to be taking an aggressive stand in the disputes. China has adopted infiltration technique in neighbouring countries by showing the threat of its military might. China has assumed that it will not face much resistance from a small country like Nepal. In the meantime, there is a strong possibility that China is trying to pressure the government of Nepal’s Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who has been taking a stand against China since coming to power.
