India’s fighter Tejas Jets first choice for Malaysia – indications of negotiations starting soon

New Delhi: India has exported defence equipment worth Rs 380 billion over the last seven years. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had expressed confidence that India, the largest importer of defence equipment, would become a prominent exporter. A few weeks ago, the Philippines signed an agreement to purchase BrahMos missiles. Whereas, now Malaysia is keen on buying Tejas fighter jets from India. The Malaysian experts have preferred the Tejas over the Russian, Chinese and South Korean fighter jets.

But in the last few years, Indian-made missiles, helicopters, fighter jets and destroyers have been preferred in the global market. There are reports that the Tejas fighter jets are especially appreciated on all levels. Foreign military officials and analysts had appreciated the Tejas fighter jets during international air shows. International analysts had claimed that the Tejas fighter jets, equipped with advanced technology, are superior to fighter jets in the same class from other countries.

It is being claimed that Southeast Asian and Latin American countries are also expressing interest in purchasing Tejas fighter jets. But no countries had been named in this. Information is surfacing that Malaysia might buy Tejas fighter jets soon. As per information shared by R Madhavan, the Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Malaysian officials will soon be visiting India for this purpose.

Malaysia is keen on purchasing the Tejas fighter jets over the Chinese JF-17, South Korean FA-50 and Russian Mig-35. Although the Chinese fighter jets are cheaper, it is claimed that they cannot be compared with Tejas.
