China perpetrating Uyghur genocide, announces US

Washington/Beijing: – The ruling communist party in China has carried out a genocide of the Uyghur people, and it is continuing. The United States announced the genocide in China, saying that the Chinese communist government is making systematic efforts to finish the Uyghur clan. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a crushing allegation that the Chinese communist government is carrying on with this genocide of the Uyghur clan. Along with the Uyghurs, the campaign to finish other minorities is also underway. The announcement regarding the Uyghur genocide is considered to be the biggest and the strongest jolt delivered by the outgoing US administration to the Chinese government.

uyghurs-us-chinaUS President Donald Trump had taken an aggressive stand against China after taking over as the US President in 2016. The Trump administration took many tough decisions on the issues like trade, investments, cyberattacks, intellectual property theft and the South China Sea. It had also been revealed that trade war started by President Trump had hit the Chinese economy hard. After that, when indications were being received that the relations may improve through a trade agreement, the Coronavirus pandemic hit the world. Following the pandemic, which started in China, the Trump administration intensified its aggression against China.

Since the end of 2019, the United States started an open political conflict with China and started delivering successive jolts over the issues that were sensitive to the Chinese government like, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Uyghurs and Tibet. In October 2019, the United States announced a visa ban for the Chinese communist party leaders and officials over the atrocities against the Uyghur clan. Following that, 27 undertakings in the Xinjiang province were blacklisted. In May 2020, the US Congress passed the Uyghurs Human Rights Act. 11 companies were banned in July 2020, and at the beginning of the new year, a ban was announced on products imported from the Xinjiang province in China.

The international community too strongly supported the aggressive US stand on the Uyghur issue. Along with the major countries like the United Kingdom and Canada, the European Union also slammed China over the atrocities against the Uyghur people. The issue of atrocities against the Uyghur people was raised even in the United Nations General Assembly last year. Taking all this background into account, the US decisions to term the atrocities against the Uyghurs as genocide seems to be a decisive blow by the United States to China. Although the outgoing Trump administration has announced the decision, the President-elect Joe Biden and his administration also have supported the decision. Secretary of State in the Biden administration, Antony Blinken, gave a reaction that he agreed with the position taken by the US administration regarding the Uyghur people. Both the administrations concur on the issue of the Uyghurs. The new Secretary of State Antony Blinken presented a stand that forcible detention of Uyghurs in torture camps, attempts to impose the communist ideology on them and other similar efforts, are nothing short of genocide.

Since the last few years, the Chinese communist government has consistently meted out extreme atrocities on the Uyghur people in the Xinjiang province. The Uyghurs are being detained under the charges of terrorism and other crimes, and the entire region has been handed over to the military and paramilitary forces. These agencies have detained more than 1.1 million Uyghurs people, and they have been dumped in the torture camps in various places. Shocking revelations have been made that they are being made to work as bonded labour in these camps. At the same time, there are reports of Uyghur women from the Xinjiang province being sexually exploited.
