China-Japan relations at a critical juncture – Chinese ambassador warns Japan

China-JapanTokyo – After establishing relations with China in 1972, Japan is facing a difficult situation for the first time. The relationship between China and Japan has reached a critical juncture due to US policy. China’s new ambassador to Japan, Wu Jianghao, warned that Japan should distance itself from the US in time. At the same time, if good relations with China are desired, Japan should strongly oppose the US policy on the first use of nuclear weapons, the Chinese ambassador demanded.

Chinese Ambassador Wu Jianghao, who arrived in Japan a month ago, had discussions with the Japanese media two days ago. On this occasion, the Chinese ambassador strongly criticized the Japanese leadership. ‘Japan should change its policy towards China and follow its original policy. Also, Japan should come out from the US shadow by advocating strategic independence,’ Jianghao advised.

‘The US is using neighbouring countries to restrain China. Japan should not fall into this US trap,’ the Chinese ambassador advised. At the same time, the Chinese ambassador objected to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s declaration that China is Japan’s biggest enemy. Jianghao China-Japandemanded that Japan, which is increasing its defence expenditure to keep up with China, should provide information about this.

The Chinese ambassador also objected to the stance taken by Japan regarding Taiwan. ‘Taiwan is a sovereign territory of China. Therefore, China will not use force to take over Taiwan. The military operation is necessary against separatist groups demanding independence in Taiwan and for regional peace and stability,’ Jianghao said. The Chinese ambassador alleged that Taiwan is trying to change the status quo rather than China. In such a situation, the stance that ‘the security of Taiwan is directly linked with that of Japan’ would be harmful to Japan, Jianghao warned.

Meanwhile, the Chinese ambassador, who has been in Japan for the past month, has chosen the right time to issue this warning. Japanese Prime Minister Kishida has left on a tour of African countries. At such a time, China had warned Japan, the Japanese media said.
