200 killed in attacks in Nigeria

Abuja – At least 200 people were killed in the attacks launched by bandits in the Zamfara province of Nigeria over the past week. A few days ago, the Nigerian military had launched an airstrike on the locations of these bandits. As per locals, bandits launched attacks after the airstrikes.

Last week, the Nigerian army launched airstrikes on the locations of these bandit gangs in the Gusami forest and Tsamre village region. More than 100 bandits and two big leaders were killed in the airstrikes. This was the biggest action taken by the Nigerian army against the bandits in the last few years.

The bandits had looted villages and killed at least 154 people as of Friday. On Saturday, 58 more dead bodies were found in another village. The dead reportedly included a large number of women and children.

Three Chinese workers were abducted two days ago after an armed group attacked a hydroelectric project in Nigeria’s Niger Delta province. After the Chinese embassy issued an alert in November, attacks on Chinese workers have escalated in Nigeria.
