West denied weapons to India and supplied them to Pakistani dictators – EAM S. Jaishankar

Canberra: Indian External Affairs Minister has once again criticized the US for providing a package of $45 crores to Pakistan Air Force for F-16 aircraft. Speaking during his visit to Australia, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar reminded that the US had decided to supply arms to the dictators of Pakistan, avoiding direct naming. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar realized that India had to depend on arms from Russia because of these US policies. The External Affairs Minister further hinted that this cooperation with Russia benefited India’s interests.

While addressing a press conference along with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar presented the background of India’s defence cooperation with Russia precisely. Western countries provided arms to the dictators of India’s neighbouring countries without supplying the arms demanded by India. At that time, India had to depend on arms from Russia. Therefore, Jaishankar has again shown a mirror to the United States by saying that Western countries are responsible for India’s defence partnership with Russia. A few days ago, Jaishankar criticized the US policy in almost similar terms.

The US had announced a package of around 45 crore dollars for the F-16 aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force. The US assured that the aid provided to Pakistan was not anti-India. The US also claimed that these planes would be used against terrorists and not against India. However, External Affairs Minister, Jaishankar had warned the United States that it would not be able to fool India with such claims.

Analysts claim that the US assistance to Pakistan to upgrade its F-16 aircraft is a warning from the US to India. Not only the F-16 aircraft but the US ambassador’s visit to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and the mention of this territory as Azad Kashmir is also being considered part of the anti-India policies adopted by the United States. Later, the US imposed a travel advisory for its citizens in Pakistan and claimed that India had also become dangerous for American citizens. Thus, the United States is trying to teach India a lesson by putting India in the same category as Pakistan. India is buying fuel from Russia and doing business with Russia in Rupee-Ruble terms. This matter is bothering the United States.

The Biden administration has assumed that the sovereignty of India’s foreign policy means anti-Americanism. For this, the Biden administration has set the stage for taking anti-India decisions. There are indications that some more steps may be taken against India by the Biden administration in the future. There is a reaction from India on this and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, in a press conference in Australia, made the United States aware of India’s displeasure in clear words. In this press conference, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar pointed out the inconsistency of the US policy of providing arms and defence equipment to a country notorious for terrorism like Pakistan instead of providing arms to democratic India.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar sternly warns Canada as well
