Two days ago, China cut off Honduras, a Latin American country, from cooperation with Taiwan. China has taken another step to isolate Taiwan by dragging Honduras into a debt trap. Therefore, there are currently only 12 countries that recognize Taiwan as a country. These include the Latin American countries of Guatemala and Belize. On Wednesday, the President of Taiwan left for his 10-day visit to the United States to enhance trade cooperation with these countries.

After arriving in New York on Thursday, the President will visit Guatemala and Belize. Before leaving for Taiwan, President Tsai will again visit the US city of Los Angeles on April 5. At this time, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, McCarthy, will meet the President of Taiwan. McCarthy and President Tsai were expected to discuss China’s threat and cooperation with Taiwan. But the visit of the President of Taiwan has increased China’s anxiety.

Furthermore, China has demanded that no US leader should visit, contact, or make any statement supporting Taiwan’s independence. Despite this, US leaders met the President of Taiwan. China has warned that the United States will have to face serious consequences. Meanwhile, the US, committed to Taiwan’s security, has not responded to China.
