New tanks from Germany and the UK arrive in Ukraine - Russia attacks Avdiivka and Kherson with the capital Kiev

Kyiv/Moscow: Advanced tanks of the UK and Germany, which have been in the news for the past few months, have entered Ukraine. Ukrainian Defence Minister has given this information, and the UK and Germany have also confirmed it. Besides, Ukraine has been demanding the West give it many advanced weapons to defeat Russia since last year. The United States and European countries have responded to it, and Western agencies and analysts claim that the supply of tanks has been an important milestone. However, the tanks of the western countries will not make much difference in the conflict, and they will easily become the target of the Russian forces; Russia had already warned of this.

By the end of last year, Ukraine had launched a counteroffensive campaign against Russia. The campaign failed to give a major setback to Russia beyond limited successes in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia provinces. Ukraine had then claimed it needed advanced weapons to counter Russia’s massive arsenal. Moreover, Ukrainian leaders and officials have consistently said that Ukraine’s counter-attacks against Russia will succeed if they get advanced armaments and systems.

Although the United States responded to Ukraine’s demand, other leading European countries, except Poland and the Baltic countries, had their hands tight. In addition, expressing strong displeasure over this policy of European countries, Ukraine started using pressure techniques. After a few weeks of continuous pressure, Germany announced it would supply its advanced tanks to Ukraine. Along with Germany, the US and the UK have also declared to provide tanks. Furthermore, the US, the UK, Germany and other European countries will supply over a hundred advanced tanks to Ukraine.

The first batch of them is believed to have just arrived in Ukraine, which includes over 20 Leopard 2 tanks from Germany and Portugal and the UK’s Challenger 2 tanks. In addition, the US will also provide an M1 Abrams tank, whose time frame has not been fixed, sources said. Along with tanks, it has come to light that Germany has also given armoured vehicles to Ukraine.

Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov also released a photograph of British Challenger-2 tanks alongside US and German armoured vehicles. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has informed that Germany has delivered tanks to Ukraine as planned. Moreover, British and German tanks have been claimed to be more effective than Russian tanks and will soon be deployed on the eastern front of Ukraine, signalled Ukrainian sources.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Russia launched attacks on Avdiivka and Kherson on Monday night and Tuesday, along with the capital city of Kyiv. Iranian drones attacked the capital city of Kyiv on Monday night. It was said that Russia made heavy strikes with the help of rockets and cannons in Kherson and Avdiivka.
