London/ Kyiv – Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK has claimed that Ukraine will only disclose its horrific military casualties once the conflict against Russia is over. Ukraine’s ambassador Vadym Prystaiko said that the government of Ukraine has adopted a policy of non-disclosure of information about battle casualties. Various media and analysts from the US and European Union have claimed that Ukraine has lost more than one lakh soldiers in the conflict against Russia. But Ukraine rejected all these claims.
Moreover, Russia attacked Ukraine in February last year. After that, Russia struck heavily in various regions of Ukraine and used advanced missiles and drones. Russia has repeatedly claimed that the Ukrainian army suffers heavy losses in these attacks on Ukraine. But Western countries, including Ukraine, said Russia’s claims were part of propaganda.
Against this backdrop, the statement made by Ukraine’s ambassador to Britain is noteworthy. In an interview with a British newspaper, Vadym Prystaiko described Ukraine’s military casualties as ‘horrible’. But he clarified that this loss would be announced only after the end of 
the conflict, which is the government’s policy. At this time, he also dismissed the possibility of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
Last month, an American website and the head of the European Union, Ursula von der Leyen, stated that the number of military casualties in Ukraine exceeded one million. The Ukrainian government strongly objected to these statements. Scott Ritter, a former senior official at the United Nations, has estimated that Ukraine’s casualties should be close to three million.
Furthermore, Ritter stated that Ukraine had no time left to waste. While reporting in this regard, the website ‘Politico’ claimed that the Ukrainian army does not have enough weapons and manpower. The website cited claims of US officials in the same report that Ukraine has lost nearly 100,000 soldiers in the conflict so far. It also included the most trained and experienced military units in Ukraine, Politico said.
