Moscow/Kyiv: Ukraine is facing the brunt of Russia’s intensified attacks on Donbas and other regions. They have started making unrealistic claims about securing European Union and NATO membership. Oleksiy Arestovych, an advisor to the Ukrainian President, has claimed that Ukraine has secured a backdoor entry through the Three Seas Initiative by being a participating partner. Arestovych also claimed that Ukraine has become an undeclared but a De Facto member of NATO.

The Russian invasion is forcing a situation where the local officials and analysts are indicating that the Ukrainian forces will have to retreat to the city of Sloviansk.

He said Ukraine had gained a backdoor entry into the European Union through the Three Seas Initiative. Arestovych noted that 12 members of the European Union are a part of the Three Seas Initiative which will help Ukraine get substantial financial and other assistance. He also stated that Ukraine has become a De Facto member of NATO. Meanwhile, the European Parliament has approved the proposal to make Ukraine a member of the European Union during a meeting held on Thursday. A Meeting of the 27 members of the European Union was held after that. Although the chief of the Union has made tall claims, some member countries are not keen on giving membership to Ukraine.
